Okay! Here are the most recommended movies for the freshman in most of the film schools. Watch these movies, analyse them in terms of script, direction, cinematography, acting & music. What makes this movie more interesting and what does't work. There are more movies in the list, which we narrowed down to five.


1. CITIZEN KANE

Premise : The investigation of a publishing tycoon's dying words reveals conflicting stories about his scandalous life.

2. THE GODFATHER I & II

Premise I : Don Vito Corleone, head of a mafia family, decides to handover his empire to his youngest son Michael. However, his decision unintentionally puts the lives of his loved ones in grave danger.

Premise II : Michael, Vito Corleone's son, attempts to expand his family's crime empire. While he strikes a business deal with gangster Hyman Roth, he is unaware of the dangers he has gotten himself into.

3. THE WIZARD OF OZ

Premise : When a tornado rips through Kansas, Dorothy (Judy Garland) and her dog, Toto, are whisked away in their house to the magical land of Oz. They follow the Yellow Brick Road toward the Emerald City to meet the Wizard, and en route they meet a Scarecrow (Ray Bolger) that needs a brain, a Tin Man (Jack Haley) missing a heart, and a Cowardly Lion (Bert Lahr) who wants courage. The wizard asks the group to bring him the broom of the Wicked Witch of the West (Margaret Hamilton) to earn his help.

4. UN CHIEN ANDALOU

Premise : The short film is a surreal and silent description of a series of events titled as 'An Andalusian Dog'.

5. STAR WARS : A New Hope (1977)

Premise : Luke Skywalker joins forces with a Jedi Knight, a cocky pilot, a Wookiee and two droids to save the galaxy from the Empire's world-destroying battle station, while also attempting to rescue Princess Leia from the mysterious Darth Vader.
